What The Kids Want was originally just an idea that came to co-founder, Samantha Schraub after hearing Catfish & The Bottlemen’s Triple J ‘Like A Version’ cover of “Read My Mind”, in which lead singer, Van McCann exclaims, ‘Live music — what the kids want!” in the middle of the live performance.
The collective then took off when, after months of communicating via social media and online, Samantha met co-founder, Ava Butera in person for the first time at a Catfish & The Bottlemen show — a show they were both shooting for different publications. In that moment in the photo pit, they vowed to make create something impactful and important within the music community, and something that everyone would have the chance get involved in.
It’s often difficult to start out on your own in the music industry, so we wanted to make it more accessibly to beginners.
